124 240D. Dealer crate engine.

FYI: 1984 240D replacement engine from OKC Mercedes dealer.
Engine ran for 38,000 miles before the driver seat fell through the floor.

Hi gang...do you think I was being unreasonable to stick to my $1000.00 for a Mercedes Factory crate engine ??

Buyer declined, offering $800.00. I just wasn't in the mood to take it being as I had to lift out the engine and pallatise it too.

No, that is totally reasonable. A grand for a nearly new engine? Anybody who thinks that's too much is unreasonable.

I have warranty papers/documents from Mercedes and engine number matches, the speedo was working and logged 38,000 miles since install.

I ran it up for him too and he agreed it sounded solid.
Mercedes crate motors arrive complete with I/P and everything to run. So it is better than an overhaul.

Glad someone else thinks this was a reasonable price.

more than reasonable

You need to build some fat into the asking price. Everybody wants a deal. Give them one by pricing it $250 above what you will take for it.

I had to ask $3,250 and got $3K, for a motorcycle that I only wanted $2,750 for. :D

There is no such thing as a 1984 240D, at least not for the US market. 1983 was when US production ended.

84? 124? I assume 124 is a misprint? and you mean a 123? Where is this engine, and is it really a 616?

t walgamuth 04-08-2011 09:00 PM

Maybe offer it for 950 and he helps you pull it?

DK I've been trying to get ahold of you about the motor. Email me

What you paid and what it's worth are completely separate issues.

I Missed

The original post with the location...... .

It sounds like a deal to me ,if it's a OM616 but you may have to wait a bit for the loonie (like me) to come out of the wood work as the engine equals the value of an average running 240D sad to say .

I'm interested , depending on location .

Well folks...seems it's sold.
