Hey folks -- I have decided to concentrate my energy and resources on the 75 300D rather than the 71 220D, and wondered whether anyone needs any parts. This car is an automatic, mileage unknown. I have not heard it run, but PO (who traded it in, so theoretically had no reason to lie) told me it ran and drove just fine before he started pulling it apart (water pump and AC compressor are sitting in the trunk).

The body looks like death-warmed-over, but glass is all good. Any little trim bits or anything that anyone could use? How about electrical parts, lights, lenses, etc? Drop me a note of there is anything any of you could use.

The engine does turn over when power is applied to the starter, and does not knock... maybe it's salvageable? Dunno... but for a few dollars, someone could give it a try!

I may just pull the grille, headligts, driving lights, and front bumper and mount them on the wall fo my garage... I could even get fancy and run 12V power to the lights!

Oh yes, the car is in IL.

If it has chrome side mirrors that attach to the door instead of the corner of the window, I'm interested in the pair.

Sixto -- thanks for your inquiry, but I don't think this car has those mirrors. The passeneger side may still be there, but if it is I am willing to bet that wither the chrome or the mirror surface is in bad shape. I'll post a follow up if this is not the case.

I have an AC compressor assembly off the 220D, but I haven't the slightest idea as to whether or not it works. If you want to mess with it, make an offer and it's yours. Not sure it will be worth shipping, though.

As for a brake knob, let me check. I *think* it's been replaced with an non-original, but I'll check for you.

My 17 year-old son is restoring an old Mercedes and needs a pair of front seats and hardware. They could be well-worn as long as they function okay. Do you have anything that might work till he can afford to get the material to recover them?

His budget is limited but perhaps he could spring for some that are very cheap. Of course, he would certainly appreciate a free donation if someone felt generous and was inclined to help an enterprising youngster with his ambitious project!
