I tear the hell out of stuff that is already trash, and I'm kind to the stuff that isn't. I have no qualms about ripping up a cracked dashboard, or slicing into a crappy seatcover. And if it really comes down to destroying something good, then yes I will take the chance on something in a junkyard before my own car, but I try to avoid that option and be respectful to the car sitting there so that others may recycle from it also.
