Looking for the above if anyone has one in their extra parts pile?
Story is:
In their infinite wisdom, MB has decided not to make, supply, or able to special order this part.
It is to bad as it fits many older MB models. WHAT IS EVEN WORSE, THEY DO NOT HAVE A REPLACE PART. It is serial# specific and fits only the older models. The new part # offered WILL NOT FIT THE OLDER MODELS, IT TO IS SERIAL# SPECIFIC. I guess it is to bad for us who own older MB and need a wear part.

um, yeah, I think I'd like to know too, what is this part? A wear item, eh? Sounds like something I would like to know about if I need to be looking for spares?

This is a left door lock for older Benz. I have a 1986 300SDL, this door lock fits a number of older Benz (300SD 420SEL and on) with lower serial numbers. The current left door part# listed WILL NOT FIT THE OLDER BENZ. I have checked with the factory rep. and this part# is no longer made and there appears there are none in US inventory or even Germany. Again, it is a left door lock. Yes, pick & pull parts would likely have one, however, how many times has it been opened and closed?

I understand that you might prefer a new part. But as the sign at the local euro boneyard says: "All cars run on used parts."

What is Mercedes telling you? That it's permanently NLA or that it's back-ordered?

Some stuff does go NLA in their catalogues, but this one I would find surprising... for whatever that comment is worth.

I'm still in the dark as to what this part is, I kinda of hate to have to take that part number and go down to my local MB parts emporium and have them look it up to show me on their computer just so I can get an idea of what it looks like so on so forth, so how about maybe posting a picture of said item that somebody like maybe even me might be able to help you find a good one? Tia!

What part of the left door lock are you looking for? Cylinder? door lock pin pull? rods? I am scrapping a 420SEL with the inner door rods in place..
