I recently picked up a '98 Mercedes 300 TD in Dallas Texas, drove it back to Pgh. Pa. and seems to operate fine. I have noticed a strong odor of diesel fuel every once in a while. If anyone has information regarding any problems I might have with this vehicle, it has 113,000 miles and all scheduled services have been completed on a timely basis, I would like to hear from you.
Also any suggested upgrades, modifications etc. that I should do I would like to hear about. Thank you,

i have a 99, same car essentially, The diesel fuel return lines can leak, usually it is constant. You definatly have a fuel leak, check around the injector pump, if it was aft you would probally not smell it when driving, if its the return lines very simple and inexpensive to fix, good luck.
