WTB: 220D Nose

Hello all,
I am looking for a complete nose (bumper, fenders, grille, hood...) for a Mercedes 220D in the San Francisco Bay Area... I am willing to travel an 8-hour radius to fetch'em. All parts must be in very good condition.

Send me a private message if you have a 220D lying around!

W115?

Why does it have to be a 220D - wouldn't any other w115 front end do?

Am I missing something?

Anyone have any informed answers on W114-W115 parts compatibility?

I've just gone through this a bit with the rear end of a W123 sedan vs coupe metalwork...

W123 sedan (saloon) and W123 coupe differences - information req'd

If you can get EPC access - a problem for us Europeans on the wrong side of the water! You can make up nice shopping lists - print then out and compare the numbers.

I'm pretty sure the main big bits will be the same as it is cheaper for a manufacturer to do as little as possible to make the change as noticeable as possible!

Anything from a W114/W115 from 68 - 73 will be a direct fit for your car.

There are certain cosmetic differences between series and years, but they will ALL interchange.

Early headlight doors have amber turn signals. Late ones have a clear cover and an amber insert behind the clear.

Early W115 grille inserts are metal. All W114 and late W115 are plastic.

There is a different size hole in the grille shell for the rad cap and the star.
Can't remember exactly the year it changed.

The bumper brackets from a 73 will be slightly longer, to step the front bumper out an inch or so. But will work fine if used in pairs.

The 250 and 250C stacked bumper will interchange, cars that had these originally will not have the chrome 2 piece trim on the pan below the bumper.

The 74 - 76 front clip is quite different and most stuff will not interchange. Now a motivated person might be able to swap the entire front clip, but doing it piecemeal will not work well.

That help?

Jim
