WTB: Rear Seat Headrests & Left Rear Tail Light for 85 300TD Wagon
 

We just bought a 300TD Wagon but the rear seat headrests are missing and the left rear tail light is broken. If you have these parts or know where I might find them please contact me. Thanks!

What exactly are those early model brackets for:confused:

The metal brackets you see on the tops of those seats are where the seat back locks into the hinge of the lower seat when folded down. To add headrests to your wagon, you need to find a donor car with headrests.

thanks so much for the info. is it possible to get a seat back with headrests that also locks down into the seat lowers? Or is it on or the other?

Rear seats with headrests have stowage on the inside of the lower seats so that the headrests are removed and then the seat lowered and the headrests would be placed/stowed immediately behind the front seats. I just took the black cloth interior out of a euro w123 wagon and am still installing it into my wagon. It has the rear headrests and my original interior did not.

I have a 3rd row fold down navy blue avalable.

All seat backs, headrest or not, have holes to lock in to the lower seat when folded down.

Those "holes" are the silver brackets which are attached on top of the rear seat as shown in the original picture.

IIRC if your car was ordered with the optional third seat then your rear seats had the headrests.

In addition IIRC all rear seats have the interior capability to accommodate rear seat headrests built in, but you'd need the headrests and the plastic surrounds to "seal" the hole where the headrests enter the rear seat. In addition you'd need to install the plastic "buttons" which are pushed in order to remove the headrests when lowering the rear seats. Those "buttons" are located on the back of the rear seat to release the headrests when they are pulled up and out.

I found the stowage holes in the seat bottom to be fairly useless on my car - it was always easier to set the headrests in the floor under the folded up seat bottom. In cars that are adding 2nd row headrests, I would only do the seat back and not both with the seat bottom. On a related note, if you add headrests you are free to add 1, 2, or 3. I have never seen a car with only 1, but I have seen cars with 2 and cars with 3. And I can confirm that cars with 2 have the seat insides that allow you to have 3.

This is a little bit confusing. I think what you mean is that the existing seat back has the mounting position for the headrest BRACKETS to be attached. It does _not_ have the brackets included that the headrest rails slide into. So in addition to the plastic surrounds to seal the hole andthe plastic buttons that go on the seat back, you also need the brackets that hold the headrest rails. The brackets are the expensive part...

Are you sure that non headrest seats need a bracket? When I cut up a back seat with headrests (the seat was toast anyways) it did not look like it had special brackets inside.

I don't think that this is correct information. I believe that cars that didn't come originally with second row headrests do NOT have the "female section" a.k.a. the headrest slide bracket assembly inside the seat backs. Are you positive that a non-headrest second row seat has the brackets inside the seat back? I have seen otherwise...
