WTB: Rear Seat *with Headrests* for '85 300TD Wagon
We just bought a 300TD Wagon but the rear seats do not have headrests. I'm worried about getting rear-ended with my son in the back seat and his neck being injured more severely because there's not a headrest.
If you have a wagon rear seat with headrests that you'd be willing to sell, or if you know where I might find them, please contact me. Thanks! robertissem@gmail.com 540-537-4896

The 123 seat back is designed to have brackets installed for headrests. There are holes where the brackets mount even if the car does not have the headrests. So you may want to ADD these to your existing seat backs. I have a couple of headrests but none of the brackets. I can't imagine the 124 brackets being the same. You can buy the brackets from MB but I think that they are about $250 per seat. I sold them in the past for $100 per seat with a headrest but I don't have any at present. FYI.

if they contain the same hardware that can be used to up-grade a standard backseat, then I would be willing to sell everything needed for 2 headrests including 2 good condition black headrests for $150 plus shipping. I also have light tan CLOTH headrests from a Euro wagon rear seat, all 3 including a true center headrest They will be listed here soon, but could do a package price with the above mentioned sets of rails, clips, plastic hole trim for the seat tops, etc. PM me with interest, anyone

There are very slight differences between front seat headrests and 2nd row seat headrests. The differences are that the front seat headrest pivots, the rear seat headrest is welded so as to not pivot, and the front seat headrest left rail has a slightly different stop mechanism at the bottom as opposed to the rear seat left rail stop mechanism. The 2nd row seat has a rail with a triangular notch near the bottom that the stop latch slips into. The front seat left rail has more of a indentation near the bottom that goes all the way around the rail. They would probably interchange and function correctly. Regarding the true 2nd row center headrest, there is no difference between the 2 or 3 2nd row seat headrests -- they are all the same and not position-dependent. Regarding tan CLOTH - is it the fabric with the plaid pattern of cloth, or is the velour? (I happen to have 2 velour tan/palomonio headrests, a set of velour door panels, and a velour center arm rest. Arm rest in poor condition). FYI on the cloth headrests - the headrest COVERS for 123, 126, 124, some 107 and some 116 are all interchangable. Be careful removing them - experiment on a bad one until you get the process down correctly. Once you unlatch the entire bottom edge of the headrest cover, the best thing to do is to pull out the metal infrastructure thus leaving you with a headrest full of a foam thing. Then you can squish the foam thing and get it out of the headrest cover. The most likely time that you will destroy the headrest cover is at the beginning when you are trying to unlatch it along the bottom edge. |
