Parting out:1990 300SEL

Something fell out of the head and chewed up a piston so those are toast but everything else 300SEL specific is for sale.

Florida car with little if any rust. (I haven't found any yet)
It has a brand new muffler on it
The headlights are in excellent condition and will be the first thing that I pull.
The interior is extremely clean. (If anyone wants the full Gen two interior for a conversion please let me know so I don't start selling individual pieces)
Car has a little over 100,000 miles on it.

For now I prefer local pick-up until I can get a paypal account setup.

I'll try to get some higher resolution photos posted later today.
PM me any requests.

Thats too nice of a car to just part out. Why not just change the engine? m103's are a dime a dozen.

It would take another $1,500 or so to get it repaired at which point it would be worth no more then $3,000 so I just don't feel that it's worth the effort.

You can get an entire JY engine for about 300 bucks. Maybe one day +- to replace.

The bottom end of the m103 rarely goes bad. I have a m103 sitting in my garage that I would happily sell for $100.

It was probably standard on the 560, but optional on the later cars until mid 91 at least.

Is there anything else wrong with the car? A/c? Would you sell the car whole?

I'm sure if you make him a reasonable offer on the whole thing he'd take it, it's always easier to sell a whole car than part it out

Nope, my '90 300SEL does not have dual air bags. The '91 560SEL I own does and I believe V8 cars received them as standard when they became available here. I would have to check my books to be for certain.

No matter to me. Less crap to fail and makes HVAC work easier.

That sounds right; I just think of options on our cars as what was available over the top on a 560... like ortho seats and 2+2 seating

Damn, that sure was a pretty car. Wish I had the time.

M, I've got a PayPal account you can use if that makes things easier to sell stuff off (seriously if you don't want to set one up-for those who don't know Fulcrum lives the next town over and knows where to find me ).

What's the car color? If it matches my 350SDL I'd be interested in the right front fender.
