Low Miles 1990 300E: Trying to Gauge Interest Level
I have a very good condition 1990 300E with 103,000 miles. Drives/runs fine; cosmetics a very good. I'm trying to decide whether to sell the whole car or to part it out. I've never parted out a car before....seems like it could be a good learning experience.
My goal was to fix a few odds and ends then list it for $2450....or I would let go as is for $1800. But if I were to part it out, what could I expect to get for the parts? My thought is that, with the low miles, the engine, tranny, and other parts could be desirable. Thanks for any insights/advice. |
What's wrong with it that would warrant a part out? You say it's mechanically good and cosmetically good... So why part out?

I cant give away parts off of my 300e. The car is worth more whole. Put a 2k price tag on it, and you will sell it an a few days. People are starting to get their tax refunds..

Yeah, your going to have a tough time making $$$ parting it out...
You can get an engine with less than 100k miles, and with a 2 year warranty for about $500-600. Used transmission without a warranty is also going to be a tough sell. Used with about 100k miles, and a 2 year warranty go for roughly $300-400. Differential, well I got one with a 2 year warranty for $65. I think you might fetch more selling this as a complete, low mileage car. |
Let me talk to my girlfriend. That looks like a nice price. Wish there were pics.

M103s aren't worth anything. At least not much.
