This is a set of zebrano wood trim removed from a USA-market 1980 Mercedes-Benz W116 450SEL with automatic climate control that had very limited sun exposure. This wooden trim will fit several models of W116, however there are some differences based on the year and model:

1973-1977 models have a different dashboard design than 1978-1980 models, so the wooden blocks glued to the back are a different shape--though I hear they can be removed and swapped out. Models with manual heating systems have an extra slot in the center of the wood for a slider that the automatic climate control cars don't have. The 1978 and 1979 (but not some 1980) 300SD has an extra hole for the engine idle speed screw, and I believe the 6.9 has an extra hole for the SLS, as well. Study your old dashboard wood well to make sure this is a match.

Yes, you can remove and replace the wooden trim without removing the dashboard, but you must remove the instrument cluster, glove box liner, and possibly the speakers, while having nimble hands (and a 9mm socket and wrench for the plastic nuts). Unless you are an experienced W116 do-it-yourselfer, I would set an entire day aside for the job.

This wood is not perfect, but it is in unusually good condition for its age and is very presentable (looks nearly new from sitting distance). I don't think there are any cracks on the visible face, just some cracks underneath where the light switch and ignition switch are. Also, this is a matched set, meaning all 3 pieces were made from the the same piece of wood and the grain pattern flows through all 3 pieces.
