Looking for a good w114/115 streering wheel

I would like to find a good steering wheel for my newly acquired 1969 220. The one I have is pretty cracked and ratty, the center black padded portion is a reck too. Anyone have a good one at a reasonable price?

Chris

Chris-
You should specify the diameter of the wheel that you want. The early w115s had a large diameter steering wheel, because I think they didn't have power steering. They then transitioned to a smaller "padded" steering wheel when PS became common. I have neither to offer you, but I just wanted to help you end up with the right part.

I bought a "truck" steering wheel cover from a local Car Parts shop, and it looks a lot nicer than all the cracks. It won't cover the center padded portion, but does make the rest of the wheel better. It is the kind that you first stretch around the wheel, and then sew it up. So that is a fallback option for you.

Same wheel, with or without ps.

Early cars had the hard plastic, late cars have a urethane wheel similar to the W123. Change happened in 1973.

For 69, hard plastic is the correct wheel, in black, or the rare white. Horn ring is dull, not shiny, and the round pad and center emblem matches the wheel color. Earlier wheels (non W115) are similar, but the horn ring is chrome and the center pad has a slim chrome ring around the outside.

Thanks for the feedback - I did find an article or two on repairing the cracked steering wheels. I am pretty handy and will give restoring it a try. I am going to use some epoxy putty as a filler along with some bondo, and take my time with a small sanding block etc. I build RC airplanes and work with detail finishing - just never really thought about applying my skills to a steering wheel but, "outside the box" works.

Still, if anybody has one let me know, even the center section with the padding.
