WTB: W126 L&R headlight/fog light set up

Looking for a decent set for a driver (not "show" quality)

I have a 1990 350SDL with very tired head light set up that I'm looking to replace.

PM me

Thanks,

Pete

Said it before, I'll say it again... take the DOT lights and deposit them in the garbage can where they belong. Get a knock off set of European lights (Depo makes ones that are passable quality), make the very minor wiring change to connect them, and drive happy.

Thanks guys......

So the consensus is buy the knock-off reproductions versus and old OEM set.....? (Sorry, still a nOOb on MB & this site)

(Sixto, et all, )What wiring needs to be modified and how tough is it? Found it in the description:

The Euro Spec connectors are different than the ones on US spec headlights, for US spec owner, buyer needs to get a pair of wiring adapters in our listing to make the installation easier. Modifications are needed for ones with headlight wipers.

Wiring adapters look straight forward....so I have the wipers on mine....what modification needs to be done for that?

Thanks again.

You'll have to disconnect the wipers basically, the US wipers don't work on the euro lights.

Hi, first of all, what they say above is probably correct, but I do have a set of the DOT lights. One headlight lens is cracked, I believe you can get replacements. If you are interested, let me know and I'll send pix.

The wiring changes aren't difficult. Most headlight sets on eBay come with the connectors you need. Otherwise, go to the PnP and get a pair of 6-pin connectors used on the tail lights of many MB models. Pop open the connectors and transfer the contacts to the 6-pin connectors. You have to add a wire if you want to run the city lights.

The wipers for DOT headlights don't quite line up with E-code headlights but you can leave them in place. You can get valence panels without wiper holes. They're $10-12 list unpainted from MB or maybe there's a set in your color on a pre-86 car at the PnP. Euro headlight wipers are pricey but a direct fit. Euro wiper valences, motors, wiper arms and blades are all different from their US counterparts.

These pictures show the difference in the headlight wipers:

Note that I took the euro motors apart and swapped parts around so I could mount them in the US locations... that way I didn't have to replace the trim strips.

You can also see how the rust has grown in 3 years
