WTB: M110 a/c "rotary" compressor mount/bracket
Would like to purchase the bracket to mount a Sanden "rotary" type a/c compressor to a M110 engine. See #160 in image below. Might be interested in compressor and hoses if in very good working condition.
My existing York compressor works well but seems to cause an odd vibration at about 2,000 RPM. M110s with the rotary compressor seem most common on the 280E and 280SL. Thanks! |

The York compressors need to be tightly bolted to the adapter plate and cylinder head on the M110's, with the struts rigidly bolted up as well. The belt must also be tensioned properly, with the slack taken up regularly during the cooling system. Expect to replace the belt every other year or so.
The big York 167 cc compressor draws about 5 horsepower at highway speeds and provides a cooling effect of about 48,000 BTU/hour with R12--it works extremely well when everything is up to specification Tim Kraakevik kraakevik@voyager.net Four 114's, Four M110's |

Kraakevik, the belt appears to be tensioned correctly, and I will check the bolts. The resonance is odd, almost sounds like the compressor is groaning and causing the hoses to vibrate. It does cool well...
Perhaps that is why the York comes on the wagon and the rotary compressor on the 280SL and 280e: BTUs. |

When I replaced Yorkie with a Sanden style compressor on my M110, I bought the compressor and adapter bracket from Nostalgic Airparts in Florida. The price was right and I can now use the AC even while stopped at a light. The output is slightly less than Yorkie, but the difference in robbed engine power is huge even though I can still make ice cubes. The bracket can also be worked to be a little smaller than it is originally, just to make the installation a little cleaner.
