Parting a W126 1984 500SEL AMG
 

Guys, I've began parting my white 1984 500SEL AMG with roughly 64k miles on the speedometer. The headgasket presumably went and it quickly heats up within a few miles. I've already replaced the radiator, thermostat, coolant to no avail.

The car started off in Greece and made its way to Arizona in 1984 shortly thereafter. Car has been federalized with US bumpers. 100% rust free with a good body. Motor starts up fine but heats up to about 110*C within 10 minutes. Stock 15" 15-hole wheels are on the car now. Body is straight but the clear coat is flaking off in large chunks.

I have many good W126 parts available.

Some of the parts available are:

Bosch Euro headlights, pretty good shape. One glass lens had a chip that was filled in with a clear material some time ago. $150

Most stock W126 pieces are cheap, best offers taken.

Recaro Classic C seats in perfect leather-like MBtex. Grey in color with rare AMG-made burlwood control panel. $1500 for the pair (only sold as pair)

AMG trunk spoiler, fits SEL and SEC's - $400

AMG rear bumper with spoiler fits SEL and SEC - $300

US tail lights, complete door locks with 2 keys, mirrors, seat belts and a bunch of good functioning parts.

Any chance it has 4-wheel SLS?

No, but I do have two suspension valves. One is the main on from the reservoir tank and the other is for the front suspension.

Got pics of the car?

No pics of the car, but its white with bad clearcoat on the roof and trunk lid.

I'm more interested in unloading all usable parts off the car before its sent to the crusher. The car has 63k miles, but due to headgasket going bad is being parted. Lots of good and like-new parts available to those who need something.

What is the interior color? What state are you in?

I'm in California. The interior is grey, but most of it is not for sale. Anything in particular you are looking for?

If it has a dash with no airbags, I might be interested if it is not cracked or sun-baked.

Does the car have a limited slip diff?

Dash is leather and modified by AMG for a Clarion radio set up... its not for sale however.

Yes, it has a 2.24 LSD differential.

Does it have a standard front bumper or an AMG one with the air damn/lights?

Standard front bumper, US-spec (part of Federalization processs). The bumper is painted white/creme.

The rear bumper has the AMG spoiler attached to it.

Car is now 95% parted, no one needs anything? This is a semi-last call before the car is put out to pasture.
