I am parting out what I can from my Sleeper Car.

I can say from driving it about 1,000 miles that:

1. The Power Steering System is in good condition. I had it listed in the FS section for $175.00. I had an offer but I need to take a bunch of pictures. I hope to get those soon.

2. The Front driver's electric window regulator is in very nice shape. Smooth and fast.

3. I do not think I have any panels except the trunk lid which has any value.

4. I got the Getrag 5 speed set up except the trans has a mechancial defect while shifting from 3rd to 2nd OR 1st to 2nd if you're going over 10-15 mph. You get a decent grind and it has nothing to do with any bushings. It is in the box.

5. I cannot offer the engine since I stayed up late last night and did a compression test. The highest cylinder I got was 330. They were all over 300 PSI, however. The compression is low for a rebuilt engine. The valves were adjusted last weekend and were spot on so I suspect this is the best that I am going to get by way of compression.

6. The components off the engine are OK: The vacuum pump works well.
The radiator and water pump and the new thermostat works good.

7. My Valve Cover is partially buffed and it is very shinny and you can see your reflection in some places and that's with minimal effort by me.

8. I have 4 tires which are OK. I would say they clearly have 10K miles left in them. They are 14" bundts.

9. I have a VERY VERY Nice front passenger seat, Palamino 6 pleat. I bought from the PO the rear seat extraneous to the sale of the car. So, passenger seat and the back seat are VERY NICE.

Excluding bits and pieces or odd ball stuff, the above is basically what is salvagable right now. I will update the list as I make a better inventory.

The Engine is a 300D NA from a 1983 although I thought 1981 was the last year for the NA engine, so I am going off what the PO told me.

So, a W123 Chassis Platform.

Yes, it has the Getrag 717.400 which is the only bolt on 5 speed for the OM617.9XX engine. It shifts really nice except shifting from 3rd to 2nd or from 1st to 2nd while going over 10 mph. It is inside the box and not a rubber bushing or other non-box issue. You will get a significant "Grind" which will condition you not to shift in those scenarios. However, I flushed it with ATF and re-filled with Mobil 1 about a week ago. After I did that, the shifting was very nice except as noted above. Please PM me if interested. Thanks.

I pulled out the front passenger seat and back seat today. These are Palamino W123. The front seat is 6 pleats and is in super condition. There is a "dimple" which is from something resting against it for a while. The dimple is smaller than a dime. I think some mild heat might get rid of it. No tears or rips otherwise. Other than that, the pleats are still nice and puffy. This is a super nice seat. $125 plus shipping. The back seat is in nice condition also--$40 plus shipping. Both for $150.00. I am planning trips soon to points north and west, so I can meet as far as Augusta, GA or South of the Border, SC (Dillon, SC area) and deliver it-- Same price of $150.00 Please PM if interested. I really have limited space so I doubt I can store these and I prefer to not let the crusher get them. I got other parts for sale from the former "Sleeper" Soon it will be RIP. Thanks.

Refreshing & Updating this Thread.

It is planned for this Saturday, December 8, 2012, that "The Sleeper" will venture its last 91 miles of driving to the land of VSTECH. There, its drive train will be transplanted into a donor car. I got my AAA card at the ready and verified I got 100 miles worth of towing -- LOL.

PLEASE send me any parts you are looking for since assuming all goes well, I am planning another trip within the following week or 2 to strip it of what I want / need and its carcus is going to be made into fine soup cans.
