I have for sale an ezl for sale for $575 dollars. great condition out of a 1992 300ce with only 96K miles.

"Great condition" would be difficult to determine. The ICU either works or it doesn't. Since it is an electrical component there is no way to determine the condition by looking at it. A functioning ICU and a non-functioning ICU look identical.

Yes, but from what I understand they either work or they don't. Has anyone seen anything to suggest that these parts fail gradually?
