I was totally unaware of this. Thanks for enlightening me.

You state "even the old ones." Specifically, back to what model year? Is it a case of getting all those "old ugly smelly dirty polluters" off the road? Didn't think AZ could be this logically flawed when most of what I see/hear comin out of there is for the most part rational.

As far as CA making that same move, hehehe. Let em try. Got that covered already.

I had to emission test my 1980 300SD. I usually run B99 biodiesel, but I had just moved here and didn't know of any stations, so I had diesel and it still passed well under the requirements.

Sometimes it was management I spoke with. I guess they think it's too much extra work for them, and they probably feel that they are somehow being cheated.

Seen that too. Just keep talking to them. As many as you can (employees, owners, yards, etc.) Eventually, you'll get that sugary grape!

That same person with the "too much work" attitude one day just might have a "lemme make a couple hundy more" attitude the next day. Especially if you catch the right person, say on the yard, and as you two are talkin the fork rolls down the aisle, AND HEY guess what? Is that your car up on the tines on the dead man's walk? Sure that's alot of planets that need to line up, but it happens.

Those wheels could almost look good without the center caps.

On another note... I'd throw you some buck and the cost of the part if you'd be willing to pick something from that coupe and ship it to me. I'll pm you

I may be back at the yard in the next few days, so I may be able to pick up something and ship it.

the real reason you can't buy 'em outta the yard...

I have also attempted to buy cars out of the salvage yards a few times. Always told the same thing, here in Texas the yards are required to turn in the titles to the state, after that, the state won't re-issue the title for that car again. The yards must have titles on all cars in their yards as the state troopers and/or local law often come around on regular rounds to make sure no one's running a 'chop shop' or fronting for one. Have been told that they come around regularly to inspect and pick up the titles so there's no second chances unless the yard has a license to be a used car operation too. Those cars with titles can be resold and are usually kept in a seperate area.

Well, that may be so in your state

But, here in Kommiefornia and prolly many others, you bet the state gubbment is going to get every last penny from all available sources they can lay their krooked dirty hands on. If they can re-title a car a bajillion times they will...as long as it's going through the system and generatin doh.

I don't know what to think about how the different enforcement divisions over there operate, if they do as you say, but smacks of highly inefficient to me. Then again, what do I know. It sounds almost like you're trying to say the "great state" doesn't have a profusely corrupt and criminal entity masquerading as their government. AHHHHHHH, whatsup doc?

Buying none of that chatter myself.

This is exactly what a manager of a pick n pull in Fairfield , CA. told me.
I found the same situation here in VA.

If the managers think they can sell the entire car, they do not send the title in for processing, they hold the title for reassignment.

Sorry, but these wheels were at a wrecking yard, and the car was crushed with them still on it.
