OM617 to small block Ford adapter plates
Adapter plate kit to mount a small block Ford manual transmission behind an OM616 or OM617 diesel. This looks like it'll fit under a W126, so is a great way to get an overdrive manual in one of these, but the kit is primarily designed to put the OM617 into a different vehicle. Includes adapter plate, starter, flywheel, flywheel to crank adapter, oil filter relocation adapters, and bolt kit. There is a rib on the oil pan that will need to be smoothed to clear the starter, otherwise no mods are needed on the engine.
I am making ten of these kits, and have four spoken for already. Expected ship date is the last week of June, but I need to get these sold to have the money for tooling and materials. Price for these first ten is $975, shipping anywhere in the US is $40, or can be delivered in the Seattle area. Please contact me at diesel.conversions@gmail.com, or PM through the site here. |

I've been told as much in the past
Once s/n 001 is finished, it'll be photographed every way possible. Until then it's just templates. Although, I do have one of the oil filter adapters. I have made a modification to the design of these to give a bit more meat around the upper connection point: Those are also 1/2" thick aluminum, the kit pieces will be a little thicker to use drop from the adapter plate manufacturing process. |

I went ahead and ordered the aluminum plate for these. Not cheap for sure, 6061-T6 aluminum. Also finalized the design of the crank to flywheel adapter, I refined the design to better center the flywheel on the crank. The old design used the pilot bushing to center the flywheel, the new one centers the flywheel all on it's own, which also paves the way for an automatic conversion kit.............

I have the master pattern nearly done. I need to get some more tooling to cut out the aluminum pieces, and the kit will be ready to ship. Anybody else want one?
