The donut blew up on a friends 2002 or so eclass 4matic, damaging the drive shaft and tail housing of his transmission. He needs a transmission core to swap around a few parts from.

With a 4 matic, he will need a tail shaft housing for the _transfer case_ not transmission.

Have a look on car-part.com , this is an online inventory system for many salvage yards.

not my car and I've not crawled under it. He said transmission and drive shaft. Perhaps its some other shaft, but it's definitely not the transfer case, since he has one of those sitting on a bench in his shop intact, with transmission guts spread out around it. -CTH
