Yes, I saw that Gerry posted a link to this on the 500E board. I'm doing a brake upgrade on my 500E and will need this tool to remove the springs to change the lower control arms. My user name is Maui on the 500E board. I'd be happy to provide a phone number if you send me a PM.

Status of sale of spring compressors

Yesterday I put them on ebay. According to ebay I could cancel that bidders bid and add a buy it now. I don't think that is the right thing to do. In other words if someone did me like that I'd be pissed. So I wrote bidder following message.

I have this item for sale on 2 Mercedes webforms. My reserve on ebay is $200. I have offers from buyers who saw item on other sites. I can cancel your bid and add buy it now but I don't think that is the ethical thing to do. since I have offers of $200 I would only cancel your bid with your permission. I will not sell tool for less than $200 so if you do not intend to bid that high I would request that you give me permission to cancel you bid. I could then add a buy it now for $200 and sell my tool.

Seeing how complicated this I will withdraw my offer. Good luck with the sale.

Indeed ... Seems like a lot of gyrations for what should be a simple sale.

You can always state that the item is for sale locally and you reserve the right to cancel an auction at any time. Until the hammer falls, no one else owns it...

Having said that, to offer it here, have a buyer, then back out because you want to keep the auction going is not what I would consider the best option.

Who are you willing to offend more, the eBay crowd or the enthusiast crowd here on PP?

Always post disclaimers whenever in doubt.

I can not disagree with you. I contacted ebay to add a buy it now of $200 but was not allowed to because their had already been a bid. I don't want to offend anyone. I have a couple other special tools on ebay now, under username gelb993.

I have a few more special tool to sell which are not yet listed.

you can end the ebay listing anytime you want and sell it here or relist it with a buy it now. if anyone is offended by that then they must have a pretty low threshold for disappointment.
