85 IP timing port plug needed
 

I am trying to make a timing light for the 85 617 turbo IP's with the RIV timing port. I am looking for the plug on that port so I can machine a hole in it to fit a magnetic pickup to sense the tang behind that port in order to trigger a timing light.

Pic of plug on my 85 617.952. A 17 mm open end from the Mercedes tool kit fits loosely on it so it may be a 16 mm. I would not use an open end. Only a 6 point socket or a box wrench of the correct size. This plug is on 84 and 85 617.95x and not earlier IP's.

I know of a junker 300sd w124 body with a om617. I can take a look at it maybe weds or thurs and grab it for you. Will keep in touch.

It's a 17mm plug. I have one, not perfect, but should do nicely for what you are trying to accomplish. PM me your address and I'll send it to you.
