WTB: Rubber gaskets/seals for w114/w115 taillights/brakelights
Hi-
My w115 has a rusty trunk and at least one of the sources of water is at the brakelights. It may be leaking around the brakelights, or perhaps from the trim right above the light, but I figure I need to try to solve the problem one step at a time. So I am trying to buy the rubber gaskets (seals) that go between the brake light and the body of the car. These are large, thick irregular seals, so using rubber weatherstripping from the hardware store unfortunately won't work. (I am not looking for the rubber that goes between the lens and the taillight body). The left is part 1158260158 and the right is 1158260258. The dealer wants about $55 each which is a lot for a rectangular piece of rubber, but that may be where I have to head. Anyway, on the off-chance someone has these parts laying around in decent condition (no cracks please), I thought I would ask. Thanks.

I thought I would bump this thread once on the off-chance there are a few folks procrastinating at work on a Monday. This website has a picture of the part:
tail light seal W114/115 1st series, RH, 35,70 € Thanks for reading.

MSRP on those seals is about $72, so your dealer must be selling to you wholesale. I'd probably go for it from the dealer.

There is an online MB dealer who sells for slightly more than wholesale, but doesn't charge shipping. I have found that to be the cheapest option for my dealer purchases. Clearly this dealer still makes a reasonable profit on their sales, so I just wish PP took a similar business model. My local dealer wants full retail price for everything, which is also what PP charges when I check here for OE mb parts.
