If the Italian Stallion has not scooped them yet, I would be interested. Email me a phone number and I will call you.

Well FAD if you must know?? I been driving on the 18s for a while now. I just dont like how they feel. Its too rough for my taste. I thought I would enjoy them. But I have a bad back. So after a while its starts bugging me. I drove one the other day with 16's I said this is how my car should feel. I want to sell the 18's and find some nice 17's right in between. I drove mark stetson's 500E. .It soo smooth compared to mine.

Guido

Hi Guido- thanks for sharing and sorry for being so curious.... the Silver Arrow wheels on your 500e look so trick!

I have a super harsh ride also in my 325is since I've done urethane bushings all around, Bilstein Sports, and plus one BBS. It takes alot out of me to drive it around and makes the CD player skip like crazy- so I know what you're talking about.

Mark's car stances just right with the 17's and S-03's.

Hi Guido,

Sorry for the inconsistent communication, but I am on the road on business and cannot get my home e-mail. Although I want to sell these wheels to a good home, given all of the dailog I have seen I would think you might want to consider the 17" solution. You have sunk alot of bucks into the performance mods of your machine and the 16's will not enable you to capture much of it. I went from these to the 17's with the S-03 and as Fad suggests, you cannot tell a difference in ride harshness but you do experience a performance ugrade. Also, the cost of shipping to the west coast is going to be pretty expensive.

Hope your back feels better.

Steve

Joel. There pretty wide. They might not fit. Ask the tire guy in the tire forum.

Steve. . I want a extra set of tires thats all. While I'm looking for my 17s I can drive on the 16's. I was running all my mods. With my 16's before I found the 18's. Listen. If you would like to sell them to me,please do so if not please tell me. I'm dealing with you and not everyone else. I have 15 yrs experince with these cars. I worked for various tuner. I know how my car handles with different applications.

thanks guido

Hello Joel

Everything you ever wanted to know about your specific vehicle.

http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container.jsp?/starmark/overview/overview_engine.jsp&subNav=overview&yearModelCode=88_E300S&class=88_E&rnav=024568&menu=2_1&spec=2

Your original wheel size was 6.5JX15H2
your original tire size was 195/65-R15

Prudence says that you can move up to a 16 but it also says that the max width without modification to the fenders would be a 205/55-16 tire prolly mounted on a 16X7 or maybe even a 16X7.5 wheel.

Steve's wheels are 16JX8 with 225/55-R16 tires and an offset of 35.

You will be adding about 1.5 inches to your width on the wheels (beefier is a boss look;^)and about 30 centimeters on the width of the tire from your original 195 width.

You may need to "roll" your fenders to handle the width. You may also need the lugs that are specific to that wheel width.

Good Luck! If Steve were closer to me, you would be too late.

Tom

Guido,

Given your location relative to me, if you want to sign up for my asking price and the $250-300 to ship then its a go. But from your e-mail it did not sound like this is what you wanted to do since you can get a good deal on new ones from your dealership. If it is go let me know and I'll proceed with getting things arranged with UPS. As I understand it I will have to have the tires taken off, box the wheels, tape the tires together, and then you will have to remount and balance. The shipping would not have worked out for Tom. Sorry this does not sound like it is going to work out and apologies for not being available much this week to be responding - but I too have to earn a living and work called.

Joel,

If Guido passes then they are yours. There are a couple of good shops in the Atlanta area that can help with getting the fenders rolled if this is what you want to do. As Tom highlighted, the wider rubber makes a big difference in look (I did this on my previous E420 and loved it) I would start first by calling the guys at MB Autoworks. If you you want to go for it let me know and we will work out a rondevous time and point.

Tom,

My thanks for the hard work investigating all of the costs and hastles regarding shipping these wheels and tires. Are you planning to go to Indy in August with MB CLub? If so I will probably see you and Michael there.

Steve

Steve - shipping correction

UPS said that they did not have boxing facilities in your area. They sub out to MailBoxes, etc. and could not quote a shipping price as MB,Etc. is an independent. If the wheel and tire mounted is shipped intact, it has to be boxed with a 2" cushioning all around(insurance coverage will not pay a claim if item damaged in shipment was NOT cushioned). MailBox Etc. Sells the same boxes that UPS does as well as the "approved" tape in 55 yard rolls. Since I did not know your zip code or that fubar out there in Los Angelos who never answered me on my seat question The UPS rep ballparked the figure at $250 to me. I figured where Guido was about twice my distance, he would be about an extra half C note. His dealership could prolly get him a substantial break on the shipping cost with their UPS account by sending you the prepaid shipping labels for each box.

Tom

The Star in which State? - I can look it up on their on-line classifieds.

Hi Tom,

I'm killing time (for 15 more minutes anyway) in the Chicago airport. Trying to catch up on all of the threads.

Thanks for the shipping charge update. I just called MB etc. and they were a bit higher - brought the total to about $285. When I had them check the zone charges to CA it came to $425 including insurance - Ouch!!! This is not shapping up well for Guido.

Seperate note, I thought I saw the add for CD changer in the back pages of the current issue of the Star (March/April), the one with the tire and wheel article. Usually when I go online they do not have all of the same advertising. If you strike out online I will still look at the hard copy and try and dig up who it was that had them.

Steve
