WTB: Mercedes W115 Gear Shifter (4-speed)

I am looking for a gear-shift lever from a 1968-1970 Mercedes w15 with a 4-speed manual transmission. This is the style with the chrome-plated lever and spherical handle, as shown in the attached picture. I'm looking to stick it into my 1972 220D, which has one of the foam/plastic shift levers that is beginning to fall apart after several hundred thousand miles.

CTD:

If you find a complete early shifter assembly, you will be good to go. The shift handles, however, do not interchange.

You may want to consider making a handle of appropriate sized steel tubing, tapped for the threads on the stub handle under the boot on yours, and then having it plated, or, make it of stainless tubing and polish it. Then let your imagination create a knob.

The lever and handle are a combined part A1132670010 (or 1132670010). I have no idea if MB still stocks them, but the price is $63. Some online dealers have it listed for as little as $48. Anyway, hopefully someone here can get you one for a lot less, but I just wanted you to know you may be able to buy it new.

EDITlease see further comments below

Thank you all for your help!

Do you know if that lever and handle are for the automatic or manual transmission?

I see the 4-speed shifter handle (just the spherical knob) on many web-sites for about $80.

I think I've got what I need narrowed down to two pieces, which are enclosed within the red rectangle in the attached picture. There is the lever (with a special bend in it, don't think it would be easy for me to fabricate that with tubing) and that knob. The lever looks to be interchangeable with the newer style one that takes the plastic/foam handle.

You know, I think I got that wrong. Perhaps that part number is for an auto shifter. I have never seen one of the spherical gear shift knobs on an Auto, so when I found it in EPC, I just assumed it was what you were looking for. But I have attached the two pages that relate from EPC. And by context, it does appear that it is an Auto shifter knob.

Sorry for the incorrect info.

Using EPC now, I cannot figure out the part number for the lever. Sorry. The ball for the manual shifter (A1112680942) sells for 85msrp(64 via online MB dealer). So if you do end up buying one, don't spend more than 64 (including shipping).

CTD:

The suggestion was that you replace part #1 (thumbnail picture) with a straight tubular part. Part #2 will remain in place in your current shifter.

#2 and #2a have different pivot configurations; they do not interchange.

Apologies for resurrecting this thread but I'm also trying to retrofit the earlier shifter style into my 76 240D. Any known part numbers and exact steps would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
