In the last year alone I've spent over 7k in upgrades and the car needs another 4k or more to make it perfect. With the purchase price and upgrades I'm already in it at 19k. I'm not looking to be in at 23k for a car I could reasonably ask 14k for.
I had every intention of spending whatever the car needed but circumstances have made it a necessity to get as much as I can back out of it. |

You don't buy an E55 and expect things to be cheap and do it budgeted like a Civic.
What a waste! |

Up until recently budgeting wasn't even in my vocabulary. Life throws you a curve-ball from time to time and my circumstances definitely reflect that. This is not my first AMG rodeo nor will it be the last.
I would rather the parts go to someone who genuinely cares about restoring their car rather than someone looking to spend 10k on a 550 HP beast and drive it into a smoking, knocking POS. That would truly be a waste. |

It is going to be a long slow ride to sell all of the parts, I'd think the market isn't that big for parts from that car. And, getting anywhere near $ 14 K will likely be difficult.
Have a look at car-part.com , there are lots of these motors for sale. The only E55 specific body parts seem to be the front and rear bumpers. Some salvage parts on car-part are silly priced hoping for an insurance job so those $ are not real. Anyone else make note of the irony of these two statements? Yeah you would likely get way more selling it whole than parting it, parting it will take for. ev. er. and you will likely not hit 14k in any sane amount of time.
Not to mention as soon as you begin taking it apart it becomes a parts car.... I would sell it and accept the loss, you'll just lose a lot more otherwise....not to mention destroying a great car.
