Following up on my purchase: I received the armrest that I a few days ago. It was packaged well and was exactly as described on the website. So, timely shipping, safe shipping, good price and part was accurately represented. I'd say that was pretty darn good performance!

Thanks and I've already made my second purchase!

In the years I have been on car discussion lists/forums I have seen this come and go, with various manufacturers.

The most aggressive ever was Volvo, in the runup to its sale to Ford. They were beyond obnoxious and they made very serious threats to people doing exactly what Mr. Reinvent is doing on an even smaller scale, who had been operating for a decade or more without any issues.

I figure it's like this. Executives, including senior legal counsel in major companies, sometimes feel they need to dream up work so as to remain relevant. Or maybe because something else they're in charge of isn't going as planned. Who knows.

So out trots a dicussion document that paints a picture of imminent death and destruction from all manner of hoi polloi using the Beloved Corporate Name. "Protect our brand!" is the rallying cry.

The beauty of such an initiative is that you can produce what looks like a result at minimal cost. Not too many independent businesses can even consider challenging a legal threat from a major automaker. Even if the automaker is in the wrong, they can drag out the process until you cry uncle from the legal hassles and costs.

So enjoy your URL and all the luck to you, but have no illusions of what could arrive one day in a nice registered letter....

As to the vendor's claim that he can name many businesses operating with Mercedes in the name, well I just did a Google and stopped four pages into the results... in the first four pages I found one business, a textile company where Mercedes is presumably the woman's name who runs it. I found others using "mb___" as a URL, but mb is not enforcable as copyright (neither is mbz, which a friend of mine obtained clearance from Mercedes of NA head office to use).

I have bought parts from this seller '''before''' he had a website and he was always top notch . I owned a W123 wagon at the time. He's highly endorsed from this satisfied customer....

Continued success & good luck with the new web site....

I stand corrected, ma'am.

My local european parts specialist also happens to be a woman. She also runs the family BMW/Mercedes/VW garage, her dad having recently retired.
