Four Aluminum Steelie Wheels 14x5.5

Four of them. Decent condition, haven't been repainted. No lugs, hubcaps, or tires to go with them. Happy to answer any questions about them. Would prefer to sell locally. Unsure of the market price for them right now, but I have them listed locally in San Diego for $500. Open to offers.

Your price is correct. Particularly if you are willing to entertain offers. It's a good starting price. IMHO.

Huh. I paid 200 for four with tires about two years ago. I guess I got an excellent deal.

If one is acquiring them for the purpose of selling them, $100 each is a reasonable expectation for what you can sell them for. If one wants to get rid of stuff in their garage, $50 each is fine. If one finds them at the junkyard, they are about $17 each. It all depends on who you are, where you are, and why you are doing it.

I hunt them to sell them, often overseas. I pretty much stopped hunting the 5 1/2" wheels because I want the much higher profit 6" wheels. My time is limited so I stopped acquiring less expensive parts that require handling and prep time. The wheels require cleaning and testing (for me to sell them, not for others to sell them). This is why I do _nothing_ with steel wheels. They don't sell for much, they are heavier to ship, little to no profit when time is taken into account.

But if someone WANTS the aluminum wheels, how quickly they want them and what they are willing to pay become relevant. If someone WANTS to get rid of stuff in the garage, probably they aren't doing it as a business endeavor.

I'm in an odd situation with Pagoda hardtops. I have 3. Ranging from excellent to a shell. I won't ship these, so they are local pickup items. My motivation to sell them is higher than any listed on ebay because I don't want to invest anymore handling time in them. cash and carry... 6" wheels on the other hand I want lots of money for and I'm in no rush to sell. I have them, few are being found these days, and they are only increasing in value. And they are easy to ship.

You did.

I got a better deal. I paid $16.95/ea for four of them at the junkyard last weekend.

But I also got filthy at the junkyard, had to rig up something to hold the brakes so I could take them off the car at the yard while it was in the air, broke my back wheelbarrowing them across the yard, loading them in my car, unloading them at home, washing them, etc.

And I also had to wait until a car with four of them showed up at the yard.

Each situation is different. Let's stop trying to undermine people's sale threads by recounting how cheaply we got something previously.

Uberwasser is correct. If you want to dedicate a part of your life to hunting these wheels, as I have, you will find them in time. I am finding that they have become much more rare to find in the last 2 years. Most consumers and car people aren't spending the kind of time it takes to find these wheels at junkyards. For those people, buying them on the forum is a good choice. Some people want nothing to do with waiting for some to show up on the forum, and for them ebay is a good choice. Everyone has a different budget, different value on their own time, and different priorities. There is no "wrong" answer and the OP is certainly not off-base with his original post and price. I'm surprised these have not sold.

I would post them over at the MBCA page too if you are a member. Might have more luck there.

I like the alloy rims, manly because my 78 has caps and I want to keep it original but don't like the steelies.....I also have 3 6.0's waiting to be used on one of the cars....but I must say, at the prices I see them listed at around here....if I ever had to pay more then 20$ a rim....I would be looking at BBS rims or other sweet period correct rims....The caps are nice, but in my mind they aren't all that....just saying...

Thanks. Solid insight.

Just curious, why are you not using them on one of your cars?

The vehicle's current bundts look nice. One car already has a set from the factory.
