For sale- manual Mercedes glow plug controller W123 300D/240D

Is your glow plug controller flaky? Does it work sometimes and not other times. This is a common problem with these 30 year old controllers. Why not go manual and extend the life of your glow plugs by not glowing when the engine is hot?

This is a converted Mercedes/ Bosch / VDO glow controller with one wire control. You simply install this manual glow controller just like a normal controller, connect the single control(brown) wire via a momentary switch to +12 (hot with key on) and you are done!. The cluster glow light comes on whenever you push the glow button.

Here's a video when I was testing it. I ran the wire inside and touched the cig. lighter for +12V. You can mount the momentary switch anywhere you like.
CLICK TO PLAY!

$40 plus shippling

I have 2 300D and 3 240D manual controllers. When these are gone, you can send me your controller and I can convert them to manual for $30.

Forgot to mention if you ever want to go back to stock, just swap it out with a good glow controller.

I went with the classic Ford solenoid manual system and am completely happy with the operation, but I fully agree with the opinion expressed that this is a most elegant solution.

Yes, no problem. You can even run the wire out the hood, through the door and stick the wire into the cig lighter if you like.

Bump!

Sold some, still have some left. Get one before I run out. Winter is fast approaching! These glow relay are 30 years old and intermittent problems develops. Rid yourself of these problems and go manual. My manual relay makes installation easy. Run wires to a manual push button switch- that's all! Everything else is plug and play if you have pencil type glow plugs.

Question- can a relay go bad and consistently draw just under 5 amps? I've got a weird problem I'm having trouble isolating.

Apparently a relay can get stuck 'open' but usually the strip fuse or its plastic surroundings get fried.

If its a general electrical draw you can't figure out, check your radio antennae motor or other depending on the model and year of car.

good luck.

my 2 cents
