Needing a head for a 1991 350SD. Current casting #17 is cracked on cyl 5 exhaust. Prefer #22 but let me know what you have, price and condition please.

Thank you for your offer, but no. The car isn't worth spending that kind of money for it's age and condition.

Well that's what you can expect to pay for 20 - 22 heads.

This is a great price for someone needing a head.

Have you contacted that seller? I'm pretty sure that whole engine sold within a couple of days. It was a gorgeous, low miles, whole engine.

I have to agree with bsmuwk. I searched and searched for a #22 for my 87 300td, bought one for $1000 only to find it actually was cracked. Got my money back and after another month of searching found another in Ohio for $1100 (I drove there to personally inspect that one). Occasionally, rarely, one will pop up for a song, but those always got snatched up before I could get there.

The good news is that they also can be found in the parts yards. One of our beloved forum members here pulled one last year in Maryland from a PNP and only paid about $200 (plus two days of his labor, no power tools for drilling out snapped head bolts).

I feel your pain is what I'm trying to say. Seems like when you need one, they're all too expensive. When you've got one for sale, there's usually several others available for cheaper than yours.

Good luck, don't give up
