Holy D Marks

They want almost 800.USD for that sucker.

Is MB that Desperate/Nasty or is this just another way to boondoggle you
into a new chassis?

Yep, the demographic that buys a new car every 30 years is a huge untapped source of income.

If you bought a stack of these 30 years ago what would you sell them for?

What parts are you buying now so they can be sold for profit 30 years from now?

Swoosh !

'Right Over my head!

1. I do not expect to be able to enjoy the profits 30 years hence.
(Unless some sort of semi-advanced ponzi schema for advancing monetary
gains based on future sales of what then is an Unobtainium [?Antique?]
chassis.) 'Not as Forward thinking as some of my German Cousins.
2. I Really think it's a case of supply + Demand
(Without even checking available parts on hand in Deutschland.)
Even though this cover is used over 2 or 3 model lines They [MB]
are not currently producing any more.
3. I can't believe some enterprising Californian has not "Class Action-ed"
MB over what was stated policy as far as Parts availability.
I.E. "If not in stock, we'll make more"
"We still have All of the O.E. engineering drawings"
WHICH was never negated.

So you are saying that MB should not make a profit on parts they have warehoused for 30 years? MB has paid to store, guard, light , heat, catalog this part, pay a guy to pick / package it . And. . .they needed to build new warehouses for later model cars since the old ones are filling up. This $ has to come from somewhere.

I'm guessing the demand for this part is very low as in one sold every 5 + years.

Apparently the part is in stock, so on what grounds will the CA be filed? From what I recall, USA federal law requires full parts support for 7 years after model year. Seems that 30 is well past that.

Yes, it is about $820. Hence my search for a good used one, but at this point it is basically pointless.

I will be parting out my '87 190Dt (2.5 turbo). If you think this will fit yours then I will find some time to take it off.
