W123 240D Used and new parts blow out. Its all gotta go.

I started to do this months ago then got sidetracked by health and life issues. Son is graduating this year, took a trip to Iceland. But its here for real. I am getting out of the W123 cars for good. I have 3 240D's in the back yard and a mountain of parts to sell. My goal is to have the backyard and garage cleaned out by mid may and have it all gone. Sold or off to the crusher.

So for the next week or so every day I will be posting an inventory of what I have. I will also take requests for things you may need. I want to get the best deal possible, but preference will be given to folks who come pick things up themselves so I don't have to mass with shipping.

In the case of rims I will need a swap of like sized wheels and rims becasue I need to use a car carrier to get these to the junk yard as I don't have a flatbed and don't want to destroy my driveway dragging them up on a flat top.

Look for the first items to pop up in this thread tonight. It has been great getting to know you folks over time!

I'm looking for bilstein HD shocks and any rubber pieces for suspension that gatorblue doesn't take. Could also use rear door seals.

I'll take any Lemfoerder/TRW parts that gatorblue and Casey pass on lol.

Could also use any Tobacco knee panels, armrests, good sunvisors, and windlacing, the piece of wood trim on the driver's-side dash corner, the idle control cable, timing chain parts, and any new parts that you have.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies! I just got back from being out of town for work. (another reason I'm having to get out of this hobby) I will try to check on all this this weekend and respond to the posted requests as soon as I can.

Things I know I have off the top of my head:

1 complete manual transmission setup for a 280E including pedals, driveshaft, shifter, linkages, wiring, flywheel. (Minus clutch and pressure plate.) Also has all the cross members and mounting bits. This set has the "iron Box" four speed. I'd like to sell this as a set rather than individual parts if possible.

1 complete manual transmission setup for a 240D including pedals, driveshaft, a rebuilt shifter (new Mercedes brand bushings, new lubrication, cleaned), linkages with new shift bushings on the linkages, wiring, brand new sachs pressure plate, brand new meyle clutch disc, brand new pilot and throwout bearings, flywheel, and all the pedals. Also has the cross member and all the mounting bits and bolts. Including the exhaust mounts. This transmission is the lighter I think aluminum case 4 speed.

1 complete set of alloy wheels including the spare. I'm still trying to figure out how to sell these as I need to have wheels on the car to get them hauled off to the junkyard out of my back driveway. And the tires on this set are dry rotted. Also have allt he hubcaps including the plastic clips for these.

1 complete rebuilt manual sunroof for 240D sedan. Includes the pan which I cleaned off all rust and por-15d the bad spots and chassis coated. Looks like new. Includes a new sunroof gasket for between the roof and pan. All new springs and other parts in the wind deflector. Includes all the hardware including mounting bits and bolts.

1 complete manual sunroof for 240D wagon. Same deal as above. I discovered the hard way that the pan for the wagon is different than the one for the sedan.

2 working engines. About 160k on each.

2 working automatic transmissions. One is in an 81 240d. It is the vacum modulator driven type. The other is in a 1978 240d. It has the older lever driven modulator type. Both shift good and had no problems when parked.

1 complete manual climate control system. (Newer style) I rebuilt the box including replacing all the crumbling foam rubber and seals, everything was cleaned out and lubricated. As close to new as you are going to get.

1 Complete manual climate control system. (older style) same as above.

I have more stuff coming. As you can tell I prefer to sell things in sets. I know this may frustrate folks who just need that "one part" but if over time things don't sell I'll be more willing to break things up. Also be patient. Chances are I may have the individual part you are looking for in a box somewhere. I'll be taking pictures and inventorying stuff all weekend. Next stuff up will be lights, instrument clusters, wiring, and individual climate control parts, and window glass. I will also have prices up on the above stuff once I do some research into what it is worth. Everything is negotiable. In the end I'd rather see it get into an enthusiasts hands than sell on ebay or go to the crusher. All proceeds from this sale go to buy my son his first car! (which I can't swing otherwise. lol)

I might be able to send you a set of Bundts with crappy tires in a few weeks in partial exchange for the alloy wheels + hubcaps...

Do you have a manual climate control bracket. i am not sure how to describe it, but when i remove the knobs and pull off the face plate, i can see the bracket that holds the 3 shafts is broken. i will try to take a picture of it.

also looking for a henna red driver seat pocket.
