My question may be better suited for a technical part of the forum but are these any brighter than US lights and do they require modification to the car to fit?

Euro headlights have a less restricted light beam and take standard H4 bulbs instead of whole sealed beam units. Brighter depends on the bulb, but the light spreads over more of the road.
The only modification needed is to the plug, and I should have mentioned I will include a 6-pin plug and point the buyer to instructions on where the pins go. Super simple, takes about one minute and you're good to go.

Euro lights have a focused low-beam, with a mask or optics that cut the beam at the top, angling higher on the passenger side.
US/DOT lights of this era have a much crappier pattern. The high beam filament is in the focal point of the light (reflector, optics), the low beam is high and to the left, shining an un-focused beam low and to the right. This was the FMVSS standard of this time, dismal headlamps. Huge difference, the only down-side to the Euro pattern is that it does not light up overhead signs well on low-beam. Also, the fog-beam is a better light, has a glass reflector with decent optics (and white), vs the crappy yellow fog-beam of the US lights with a (typically cloudy) plastic lens. Both lights will have 55-watt bulbs, the difference is how much of the light is going where it is supposed to be and not wasted in glare etc. I cannot comment on the fit/quality of these aftermarket lights, but if they are EEC approved, they should be very good light output/pattern.

Ok that's good to hear. The ones on the car now are pretty bad. I'll talk to the rest of the guys on the team and see if they want them.
