The bracket in the illustration seems to be like the one on that rusty picture above - it has a pin that goes into a receiving hole to stabilize it. That hole does not appear to be present on the tow bar above.

obviously it wont. the hitch is now the reinforcement bar structure.

what ever brackets came to mount the bumper with this hitch were probably C shaped like on the ends of the front euro reinforcing square under tubing. I haven't see what that looks like.
Forum Member Delibes installed this same bar on his first wagon-so perhaps he can shed some light, my guess its just c shaped end brackets that bolt up to the bumper under the rubber trim~ and maybe had a flat piece of steel strap going across that would clear the hitch bar.

Thanks panZZer - I was thinking that if necessary some C-brackets might be possible to fabricate. Not sure who would be able to do that accurately. I bought this under the impression that it would simply work when paired with a euro bumper, without much familiarity with euro tow hitches. I knew it didn't include the wiring though, and that's not a difficult problem. I guess I should have done some more research, as we aren't able to find a Mercedes emblem or part number on this, and have been unable to find any other clues as to how this hitch works. Just hoping I can get something figured out since now pretty deep in with the tow hitch and bumpers and such on hand! I will send Delibes a message - thank you!

Delibes said he had a factory Oris tow hitch in his wagon, but not this exact same one the. The brackets available from Mercedes aren't C-shaped nor will fit this tow bar, unless maybe sonebody knows a part number we can't find. The tow bar has no part number on it.
