WTB: W124 E320 exhaust "midpipe"

Looking for the part that sits in front of the muffler. I think it's a resonator. Has two pipes flowing into it.

I think it's part number 1244912100. Middle piece in the photo below.

I have one from a W124. Two in, one out, just like the one in the diagram. I'll have to check the part number. I'm very sure there are no real differences between any of the 6 cyl. ones. Only the V8 ones had bigger tubing.

Where are you located?

Mine is 124 491 00 01. From a rust free original California 92 300E with only 110,000 miles. I am very sure it's the same despite the slightly different part numbers. I thoroughly looked into these W124 exhaust systems a few years ago and the only real difference I found after the cats was the V8 cars had slightly larger tubing. I'm in Calif but I'm including the shipping in the $50 price.

Hi Eric,

I'm going to do my own due diligence and get back to you. I think you might be right.

Also if anyone else wants to pipe in on fitment, it would be appreciated.

i used the front section from a 94 sedan and the center section from a 93 wagon to fix a 94 coupe. i think only the rear sections differ between 6 cyl w124 models...
ps-you should post your location

Hah, sorry, Thanksgiving and work kind of got away from me.

Yes, it seems like they should all be the same part. I'd love the muffler if you still have it available.

Sorry, I've been gone a while myself for the same reason. Christmas is an issue now too. Yes, I still have it.

I'm sorry, I don't have a paypal account. I don't do enough of this sort of thing to justify having one. Can we just do this old school style?

if he lives east of the mississippi it will cost you almost that much or more to ship it

I'm going to ship it in a "game board box" through straight U.S. mail. I shipped one that way two years ago last October to a guy in Ohio and it worked out fine, IE the cost wasn't too bad (I don't remember the exact cost, I just remember not being bothered by it, which is probably why I don't remember the cost).

Thank you for bringing this up though because this does bring up another potential issue that needs to be addressed. That resonator fit said box only because it didn't have too much pipe in front of it, IE it didn't have the combersome, leak prone, impossible to deal with nightmare clamp hardware on it. Both the buyer and myself agreed that we prefer that area welded instead of clamped anyways so it wasn't an issue for him, but it may be for JP. If it is I'll have to sell him the one from my 4-matic (same exact part number and only about 10,000 more miles on it) which still has it's mounting hardware on the front. Then I'll have to ship it "normally" and adjust the price accordingly. Basically, it will have to be $35 plus shipping.

I'm really sorry I didn't think to mention this earlier but I just figured everybody is like me (and the Ohio guy) and just welds (or has) that thing welded in, especially since the other side has to be welded in anyways. (Stuff like this is why I taught myself how to weld.)

As I mentioned in my privious post I don't hardly do any selling of anything over the internet. Ironically, that last resonator that I sold over two years ago was the last thing I sold on the net! (Same exact part number too!) I have several of these things because I'm always removing them in my search for more power!

Another option for JP is he can meet me in Calif, Ariz, New Mex, Tex, Western Okla, or Colo. If he's willing to meet me along the path I'll be taking, I'll bring him the resonator for free! (Other than the original $35 purchase price.)

What do you think about all of this JP?

I think I missed your prior posts! Again, I apologize--holidays!

Agree with the prior poster: you will have to ship the muffler to New Jersey. I'm happy to buy the welded one (I have no problem with it either), but again, I advise you to verify that it will not cost too much to ship. If you are happy with $50 shipped, I am happy.

Perhaps we are better off communicating through email. Could you send over yours?

I'd prefer to PM you my phone number in a few days after I've confirmed things at the post office if that's OK. We can accomplish more in a 5 minute phone call than we can in a week's worth of e-mails. I'm old school that way.
