WTB working temperature LCD display!
 

I just want to buy the actual glass LCD and not the whole piece. Half of mine is dark, I can see one number so I know it works. It comes attached to part 124 542 0227, VDO 631202/4/1. It is for my 86 300e but, may be interchangeable with other models.
I already checked with some used part dealers but, they do not have them or they will not guarantee it will work.
I know somebody must have an old instrument cluster somewhere. Please help!

I want one too for a '87 300D. We have GOT to find an alternate source. It can't be that special of a part. Let's do some research and find something that is electronically compatible and can be made to fit somehow - even if it takes crazy glue!

If you have yours apart and can take a picture and some measurements, I have the electrical manual and some parts sources.

I already walked the same way and did not find a way to fix mine. I ended up buying a complete cluster on e-bay in order to use only the temperature display. I even had to buy a conector because my car is an 86 and the cluster I've got came out from a 93 W124.

Well at least I did not paid the $195 MB dealer is asking for the part, but ended up paying something around $130 for everything...

Now I have a cluster to re-sale and my instrument panel looking good again.

Ohhh well if you are like me, that needs everything to be in working conditions you have to pay a price !

While I was doing some research on this part, I found a company in the web that can make LCD display to your specifications. However, I did not contact them because I do not think they would want to make just one. Maybe a few hundreds but, not one. I will keep searching.:rolleyes:
