Should be either 390mm or 400mm. It will be marked on the inside, usually on the upper right side of the airbag cavity. Is the rim of the steering wheel very firm, or does it have some give to it? It seems the later steering wheels were much softer, but I prefer the earlier wheels that had a very firm feel to them. Thanks!

This looks like the later sport wheel that started being installed on W124s in the early nineties. Smaller in diameter than the early W124 wheels. The 4 spokes of the wheel are the tell between the two styles. The earlier (larger) wheel has lower spokes that are closer to horizontal than the sport wheel. If I recall correctly, these wheels were installed on the sport suspension cars, then were standard on the 400E and 500E. By 1994, this was the standard W124 wheel on all versions. While appearing the same for various chassis and years (W124, W210, W140, others), I've found that there are internal differences wrt the hub. I recall having to modify a wheel I bought for my 1994 cab to get it to fit. It's been a while, but the issue I recall was that the holes/wiring in the metal hub itself were different. I'm pretty sure a drill press was involved.... The question asked above is whether the soft (urethane) portion of the wheel has delaminated from the steel core. If this is the case, the outside rim of the wheel itself can rotate around the steel core. Usually happens at the top of the wheel first. Delamination is a deal killer for me, makes the wheel feel creepy. Jim
