Having replaced the OE mounts on both my 300SDL and 300SD, this part was not present. Maybe this is some sort of service item of some sort? The EPC does not show it listed for either of the above vehicles either.

My point was that it isn't a necessary part.

I went down this road when I rebuilt the driveline on my ‘84 300D. Turns out there are two transmission mounts; a smaller mount with a rubber slot in the middle, and a larger one without the slot. The larger one is deemed “heavy duty”.
I’m not trying to bust your bubble, but it’s going to be damn near impossible to find the right shim for your car without making some *very* precise measurements. The shim alters the angle of the prop shaft by minutes to a few degrees maximum.

If you’re damn committed to getting a shim in there, and you’re sure you’ve installed the right bits- have somebody measure the thickness of there’s with calipers, and have a machine shop make you a little plate, of that height.
Be warned, shims are not one size fits all. Quite the opposite.

If I were wading through this and my car *NEEDED* a shim, I’d have one made of average thickness, and then align my prop shaft with the washer and string method to ensure my angles stayed close to spec. Hope this helps!
