Free: 722.3xx (87'td auomatic transmission)
Hey guys,
I have a left over transmission from a previous manual swap on my 87 300td. I put about 600 miles on it over the return trip from VA after purchasing the wagon. Shifted fine, nothing abnormal. It's been sitting in my garage along with the torque converter for a year or two now. It has roughly 200k on it, so it's at the end of its average service life. Who know it could keep on going for another 30k+. Otherwise it would serve as an excellent core for rebuild. It's a whole lot cheaper to have these rebuilt beforee they've exploded . Anyhow, looking for someone to come pick it up locally. I also have a 300te automatic and torque converter available. Operating condition unknown. Thanks!

The thread heading says this trans is a 722.3xx, and from the highlights is from a 87 300TD (wagon). Can anyone confirm or deny that this trans starts in 1st gear?, that it is from a 4-Matic? And what are the digits in the xx positions? |

Frank got your message sorry for the delay. I should be able to get you the ".xx" tonight. EPC says its a 722.317.
TD's were not offered in 4matic. It's 1st gear start. I believe all the w124's were 1st gear start with exception of the V8 models, and a few of the later inline 6 gassers.
