WTB W108 280se transmission

A friend's transmission went out and he wants a good used unit.

Anybody in the continental US have a transmission from a W108 280SE (the 6 cylinder FI model)?

Thx -CTH

The trans could be either a 722.1xx, or a 722.2xx. They can be exchanged for each other, although cooler lines will require adjusting, and driveshaft length is slightly different.
A rebuilt 722.2 is available here for $950; is shipping across the country in the cards?

Good point Frank.

The tag on the current trans reads 108 270 11 01.
The serial number stamped on it is 010905.

It's the kind with a 4 bolt pan.

i'm not sure if the w108 transmissions are fluid coupler transmissions or torque converter transmissions. If they are, I have an automatic transmission behind a 75 M110E engine from a 280SLC which would be a 722 trans.

Al,

This one's a torque converter, while that 280SLC transmission will bolt in, I believe it's got a different performance curve because of the M130 vs M110 differences. But it's been a few decades since I checked that.

Thx -CTH
