Any Interest In A 2.82 Ratio Differential With ABS That Fits 1970s/80s Era Vehicles?
I ended up spending a lot of time removing a differential from a 1979 W116 450SEL 6.9 with ABS under the assumption that it would be LSD with ABS and have a 2.65 gear ratio. After I cleaned it up, I discovered it was NOT LSD, but it was ABS; however, it was a 2.82 gear ratio.
This might be right for an OM617 turbo diesel-powered vehicle, but doesn't seem right for a 6.9. Would anyone be interested in it? It's pretty filthy, but that's how they tend to be. I'm wondering if I should go back and get it from the yard where it's at, if there is any money to be made. The 1985 model year turbo diesel vehicles had a 2.88 ratio differential from the factory, so this would be close, plus it has ABS for those few cars which had it as an option.

That combination shows as production for a 126.036 (500SE) prior to Sept. 1981. Not a USA model; grey market.

Thank you for the information. I'm inclined to leave it there unless someone really needs it.
