WTB: Diesel Ignition Switch/ Column Lock Assembly

As the title says, looking for the ignition switch/ column lock assembly from any w124 diesel. Working on a diesel swap and I need the vacuum shutoff valve that's integrated into those assemblies.

If you just want the valve, that is part number 000-460-02-84. You just need to have something that pushes in the button while running and releases it when you want to shut off. (I'm using the bowdoin cable from the key that releases the shifter to also push the button in on my project.)

Nice, that’s a clever idea bkc, I like it! You’re referring to the Park lockout cable correct? The one that connects at the automatic shift linkage in the center council?

Thanks for the part number, I had read about folks drilling and tapping their lock assemblies to to install that valve as well.

Did you make a little connector to secure the end of the cable to the vacuum valve?

Yup. The Park lockout cable.

You can probably just make a bracket or such (or maybe a short linkage if space is too limited) to hold the valve in place. The valve has two small bolt holes to attach to the ignition. (I don't have my old mechanical shifter nearby at the moment, and my poor w124 is hopefully getting fixed at the body shop.) If you watch the movement with the console cover off, it is easy to see how the movement works at the shifter and figure out how best you want to do it. It just needs to hold that button in while running (and have space to run the two vacuum lines, of course).

In my case, I built a small bracket for the valve and cable (with a tube to keep the cable straight). I didn't need the cable anymore since I replaced the tranny with a 722.6 (electronic shifter and lockout system), but realized that cable operated exactly as I needed for the diesel shutoff. No fancy electronic solenoid, no worries about wiring up the switch to send the signal. Just a simple and inexpensive mechanical mechanism.

Nice! Are you running an OFGear controller for the trans? I'd love to see one in use some day. Really curious about the shift quality. I strongly considered going your route with the 722.6, still kept the OM bellhousing from one incase I change my mind. Currently using 6spd 716 with a sprinter flywheel/clutch. Little worried it may not hold up well.
