Spambots in the forum

In case you haven't seen, there are a bunch of spambots that are trying to scam users in this forum. Example posts will be from a new user with ten or fewer posts, asking for you to email (typically a Gmail account). Some ask you to text a number.

Please don't fall for them. Also, reporting doesn't do anything for these. I wish the reporting system put posts in a moderator queue, but it does not. It just spams a forum nobody looks at because of abuse of the reporting system.

Be smart, don't fall for scams, and don't reply to or quote spammers, because when we delete posts the reply will still contain the scam.

Going to have tech team take another look at our moderation filters.

We have made changes to how new accounts get moderated but bots seem to be circumventing our filters.

Everyone do their due diligence, ask for pictures, additional information, if they are messaging you from a relatively new account with limited post history and they just so happen to have that hard to find part you need it should raise some eyebrows.
