WTB 124 Chassis Headlights

Does any one have a pair of Headlights for sale. My teenage daughter just drove her 86 300E into the back of a Jeep in traffic. Never put any wear on the brake pads since she obviously never touched them.
Looking at something more important than traffic.

There isnt an appropriate smily for the message. None have smoke coming out of their ears.

Sorry I don't have a set of headlights. I think I'm getting Euros in a few weeks but I'm not sure my deal will come through. If you still need them then, I will sell you the US lights from my car.

I totally understand your emotions on this. My daughter has had more mishaps with her 300D than I can stand. It was hit on the right on the school parking lot, some trim has come off and then she was following a truck, probably too close, and it ran over a piece of wood that came up and tore the grill to heck. At least I have a grille on the parts car. The right rear door will take straightening and painting.

The saddest part is watching this car, that was in nice shape when she started driving it, turn into a ragged looking junkyard piece. At least it is still good mechanically.

Good luck,

You might ask JCE about his.

I have mine. overall in great condition.

Make me an offer. I have the wiper panels, wipers and motors with them too.

I will accept any reasonable offer.

Horizon

My teenage daughter also drove her 89 300TE into the back of an SUV (see posts under "Sad Benz" thread). I too couldn't find an emoticon with smoke coming out of its ears. When I initially found out about her accident my emotions alternated between wanting to hug her because she was safe and wanting to scream at her because she was not paying attention where she was going.

Her car is supposed to come out of the shop today. There was a delay involving certain parts, but it is all resolved. Interestingly enough, I wanted to replace her lights with Euro lights. Even though it was cheaper to replace her damaged lights with Euro lights, the insurance company wouldn't approve it because the Euro lights are (technically according to them) not DOT approved. The idiocy of it all:mad:

Rather than waste time fighting the insurance company on this issue (they did come through for us on everything else) I will just buy Euro lights later on and then repalce them myself, which means I will have a brand new set fo DOT-approved lights for sale.

How much damage was done to your daughter's car? From your post it sounds like only the lights were damaged.

Good luck.

Damn you benz-lgb. Trying to sneak in on my sale!!!!

:) hehehe

Its all good. Whatever is decided, I have no problem. They are just taking up space, and rather than make a sculpture with them for my wall, I figured if someone wants them, I will entertain reasonable offers, and even some unreasonable ones. :)

Excuse me but....

Alon...didn't you try to get into Larry's action before I tried to get into your action?

It is all good though. Free market economy, etc. Just as long as it doesn't cost me more money to ship the lights than I make on the sale.

You can have hte sale, I haven't even picked-up my daughter's car, much less replaced the lights, so you can have at it (as long as Larry doesn't mind).

I sold the US lights from my W126 to a fellow board member, so I am a happy camper;)

When I buy the new lights for my daughter's 300TE I'll pick them up from Ken at ImportVision.

Ashman 07-26-2002 04:59 PM

ohh I'm just playing benz-lgb.

You know its hard to set tones in online messages.

I didn't even realize larry offered his for sale.

:)

My tone wasn't meant to be mad. I was being sarcastic a bit. :) LOL

ITs all Good. if I don't sellt hem I'm making a front end for my wall :) hehehehe

My first emotion was between hugging her because she was alright and strangling her because of the damage. Cooler heads prevailed since I had already paid for her first year of college. Kidding of course. This thread is starting to sound like the Lebenz thread. Kidding again. Maybe I should start a reverse auction to buy the lights. Kidding again. On a serious note I will get in touch with you guys next week and try to work something out. I just dismantled the front end and found the following. The radiator and condenser survived intact. The upper radiator brace was pushed back about 6 inches. She actually hit the tire on the back of a jeep. The hood is crumpled and obviously the grille. No bumper damage, fenders are intact so it could be worse. When I asked her what she was looking at (obviously it was not the traffic in front of her) She said "a red 560SL in the used car lot". Do'nt you just love it! I did find a sheetmetal shop on the internet with some great sheet metal prices. www.autobodyparts.com.

Today she asked me if she could use my 560SEL. Guess what my answer was? Two more weeks and she is off to UCONN. Thank God. Thanks for letting me vent.

Ashman 07-26-2002 06:09 PM

Horizon. Sounds like her driving habits are like my dad's He looks at everything... BUT the road.

Glad everyone is ok though, that's the most important things. Cars can be replaced. People cannot.

Whoever you decide to get the parts from, you will most definately get what you need at a good price and from a fellow member.

lights

I have a set of headlights, washermotors/ wipers & valances from 89 300E in good condition if anyone is interested. email drmspce@aol.com hope this does not offend you guys above but I just have too many parts lying around. :D :D :D

aldedmon 07-27-2002 04:20 PM

Why not update the ol girl

If it were my car, I'd do the 94/95 hood update (as costs are the same hood + grill assy)and get the newer headlight assys from a member who has done/is about to do the 94 e500 euros...
Try the salvage yards for all the parts...you might get lucky

TomE500 08-02-2002 10:37 PM

HorizonA! Listen to the wise man

aldedman.

I don't have the 94 hood for sale but do have the 94 E500 OEM Bosch Headlamp assemblies which are the closest to Euro lights as you can get with Pencil Beams in place of the fog lights. You will like the final result so much your teenage daughter will not see much of the back end of a Jeep let alone anything else as you will be driving the car most of the time with all the new upgrades.

Tom
