Hey Cam

What rims are you planning on putting Dave's 16 inch tires on?

Shipping will cost $50 minimum. No way you can collect them? If not it will be $130.

Ok, I will do $130. I didn't think the shipping would be that much but the big stores get big discounts. I do have a few questions, what payment do you take? Paypal ok? Is there any abnormal wear to the tires? and about how many miles did you put on them?
THanks,
Dan

Tom, I just bought a set of '99 CLK rims. I think they are classy looking. They are 16" I will have to buy H&R 20mm spacers though. Hopefully I will buy these tires and have them on the car within a few weeks. I will shoot a pic and post it.

Thanks for responding Dan

I just upgraded to 17" AMG 2-piece. I have the same tires still mounted on the OEM E500 8 hole wheels that I have been contemplating selling. I have been monitoring this thread to see if you got the correct offset for your vehicle. Good luck with your CLK wheels - they are a good choice. Are they at least 7.5 to 8 inches wide?

Tom,
Are you saying you want to sell your tires or tires and rims? I think the rims are 16 x 7.5

A 55 should be OK on a 7.5 wide

My tires have little or no value. Two of them are close to the wear bars and the other 2 are not far behind that.

It is the rims that I am thinking of selling. They are 16X8 eight-hole rims with an offset of 34.

Dave Hendy owns a 500E so I knew that his tires were originally mounted on the same rims as mine. That is why I was curious what you were going to mount his tires on for a rim for your car. From your other posts, I knew you were seeking rims but had not yet determined the proper offset for your car.

The only other vehicle that I know that my rims will fit for sure is the R129 SL series.

Hey fad! How the Hel R U ?^)

They are painted and in GR8 condition. The outer edge of the rims have some of the paint chipped but no serious curb rashes. I am gonna powerwash off the brakedust from the backsides to be sure there is no hidden damage before I dump them in storage this weekend.

I have no idea what they are worth. I have not started to check their value on completed sales on ebay and here.

Hi TomE500- - I'm fantastic!

Totally fantastic and ready for another weekend! ....I'm still glowing from a trip to Willow Springs Intl Raceway last weekend where we exploited a no nonsense CLK55 (3800mi on the odo) all weekend- - track and 1100 mile roadtrip from N Cal to S Cal and back.

No tickets, no accidents- - just a ton of man type fun all weekend!

V1 saved our arse's many many times- - including a cruiser that decided to tail me for about 30 minutes! (on our night drive back on Sunday)....I guess he finally got tired of laying in wait so he crept up ever so slowly and passed at 80mph (limit on I5 is 70mph and I slowed using cruise control set @ 75mph once the V1 started bleeping)...I think he picked me up at a rest stop w/ my cruise set at 90mph....

Also notably, V1 saved me on the evening drive down...cruiser resting (dark, silent, lights off) in the dirt median between North and Southbound lanes.....V1 bleeped off and got steadily stronger --within 45 seconds we located the enforement cruiser with the help of the V1 direction arrows....needless to say we had a good head of steam going prior to the V1's alert

The CLK55 is a monster- - this one is my buddies that was just lowered w/ H&R's and 1 bumps....the 5 speed auto is silky smooth and the torque of thh 5.5L is easily 1on the order of 15% better vs. an E500...it is really a no nonsense super fast (it can get you in trouble) type of MB!

Hope you're doing well and perhaps you can PM me your asking price when you've completed research....I think there's a set for sale on our SL Forum from another 500e owner....like $600 w/ Mich tires... I'd be interested in wheels only.

I bought a chromed 500E OEM set last year w/ tires from another 500e owner here in CA for $300, decided I didn't need them- - and did a quick turn around and sold them for $300. ...I'm thinking now that I'd rather have a painted set for the true bone stock OEM look....

best regards
-fad

Fulgence! Glad to see that U R Well

and staying outta trouble.

If 1100 miles didn't bother you much, then hop in your ride and mosey on out here and take these monster space-takers outta my garage. I pressure washed them today and they look like a brand new pair of sneakers. Shipping them to California has to be prohibitively expensive even without the tires mounted.

I'm thinking of stacking them on either side of the couch in my Media Room, slapping a coat of Black Magic Tire Wet on 'em, topping them off with a 26" round glass top and calling them End Tables - Waddaya think:-^)

PS: Did you sell your OEM lights yet?

Tom

No! I won't give up my day job to take up automotive furniture design}:-)

Hi Tom- thanks for the message!

Shipping the wheels is surprisingly cheap! Fed Ex Ground seems to be the cheapest route!

If you'd take $300 + shipping to me I can swing them as a minor automotive cost (not necessary for wifey's GL approval stamp- higher authority)- - and I'd appreciate it as a favor since its a bit of work on your part

I'd be interested in the wheels only (no tires), lugs and center caps too if available.

I just shipped a set of wheels out to be re-chromed and paid a visit to the local tire store for a set of (used/ discarded) wheel boxes to ship them in....gratis no problemo

Let me know.

tks-fad

Hi fad!

We should get off Dave Hendy's string on this deal - I'm surprised he has not asked for a commission.

I posted them for sale on the parts forum. If no one local to my area bids to take them out of my garage, they are yours. I will lug them back to my installer Saturday and I am sure he has boxes and can ship them from there.

Tom
