WTB NOS or nice used radiator for 8 cylinder W108/109/111

Anybody have a good used or NOS Behr radiator they want to sell? Part number is 109 501 0303, and is stamped just below the neck on the windshield side of the radiator. This is the one in W108 280SE and 280SEL 4.5 sedans, 300SEL 3.5 or 4.5 sedans, and W108 and W111 280SE 3.5 sedans and coupes. The radiator in the 280SE 6 cylinder cars has a 108 part number and won't work. I would also like the attached oil cooler.

Andrew,

I bot one from Bill Wachsmuth (mbz.org) several years ago for my '72 280 sel 4.5 but never installed it. However, the # on the neck is stamped 103 501 03 01. Let me know if you want more info.

Thanx,

I would bet that it is the correct radiator. The number is stamped onto the neck and could easily have been partially worn off over time. The "103" in the part number should really be "109" if a bit of the "9" were obliterated. Do you also have the oil cooler? If it has been tested and is OK I would be interested. Let me know what you'd want for it.

Andrew...

My bad....the first set of #'s is def 109, not 103. I has a BEHR label stamped just below that number.

As for condition, I purchased it with the understanding that it was in good order, but never installed it because the radiator shop I took it too said they would rather re-core the one in my car than put in an unknown. I should shoot you some pictures. There is also a bit of a story. Send me your email address and I will get out the camera. We'll agree on a price, and I'll send it to you and then if it works you can pay. I don't think these things bring too much money...its more a shipping hassle than anything else.

As for oil cooler, I'm don't get my hands very dirty, but my recollection is that the cooler was integrated internally and not visible. Years ago a radiator shop sliced a 6" line going in the side of the radiator in the car and tranny fluid started pouring out a few miles down the road. Never got them to own up to that one. All that to say, if you are looking for something like a separately mounted cooler, there isn't one. But...send me your address and I'll get you some pix.

I've sold my 108 twice but no one came up with the $$ so I still have it. But...I bot the 111 coupe this summer and am looking for stuff. Would like to find out what you have. Thot I saw info re that in another thread you posted.

Thanx,

parts

I have some 111 chrome trim, taillight lenses, two very nice gray sun visors, a perfect original clock that keeps time to within 5 minutes or less a day, two US headlamp assemblies, a NOS auxiliary fan... all this off the top of my head.
What color combination is your 250SE? Those were really neat old world cars. My 280SE 3.5 is more modern and definitely less cool than the high grille W111 coupes.

Please send the pix to me at squasher@starpower.net.
