how long were the springs on the car and how did you get them off? Do you have access to a spring compressor or know where to get one?
Thanks.

Springs not available at this time.
Someone else is making up his mind, if still interested I will let you know by the end of the week. In the mean time, I will answer your questions. I did removed the original springs myself since I wanted a "lowered" look. I installed H&R's with Bilsteins HD all around. I am happy with the combo.
I bought and used an aftermarket external spring compressor with safety devises attached. I borrowed them at AutoZone before I purchased mine but, I think they don't carry that type any more. When I removed the springs, I treated the springs as if they were a bomb but, other than that, the spring compressor worked for me. ************************ rents the factory ones but, you have to leave BIG $$ as deposit. I think somebody in this forum rents the factory ones also with a deposit. After I installed the H&R's, I read that some people are cutting the orginal springs for the lowered look. Obviously, I did not try that. Good luck!

The reason I ask is I am trying to get my wheels to fit. The rears are 16x7 ET30 and the fronts 16x7 ET37 off of an slk. I am experiencing slight tire rub in the rears when hittign dips in the road. Would you be able to get wider tires under the fenders with the lowered springs? I have always liked the slightly lowered lok but thought it would exacerbate my problem with the tire rub.
Thanks.

You may have the wrong tires...
You did not mention the size of your tires but, depending where they are hitting, you may be able to get a different tires or roll your fenders.
I suggest you do a search on the wheels and tires section or post your question(s) there. There is LOT of info on that topic. Good luck!
