WTB: Block for m603.961

The block for my '86 300SDL has a connecting rod poking out of the side. I need a block for the rebuild.

Holy Cow!

I can't help you with the block - but what happened?

Did you over rev the engine? At 316K it is just getting broken in nicely......

Don't know what I got myself into... but I bought it that way. The west-coast body is in great shape. Better paint than any car I've ever had.

I haven't built the garage yet, so I'll tow it up to my mom's farm for the winter. I'll start with the interior while I try to locate a block.

You can see the rod end poking out of the hole. There is no bolt through the hole. It looks like the bottom end came loose while the piston was down and then the crank came around on the next revolution and slapped the connecting rod into the side of the case.

Sorry. I've got one with a hole thru the side, too. Wide enough to see two counterweights straight on, and maybe 4-5" tall. Nothing hanging out either. I bought mine like this, so I don't know what happened. I can crank it over just fine & can hear compression elsewhere in the engine. The cam towers are fine, and the cam is in once piece. These are the only two cases of the 603 engine doing this, that I know of, but there are probably others.
