WTB: oil cap

OK, this one sounds kind of silly... but my 300D had a plastic oil filler cap. I have learned that the gaskets on these caps and perhaps the overall design) doesn not allow as good of a seal, and so oil splatter can escape out of the filler hole.
As fastlane only sells the plastic ones (and Ive already tried one of them with no luck), I would like to get one of the old metal caps from someone who might have one from an old engine. As I understand it they use a wider gasket, and plus, will give my engine the more original look...

The fastlane fuel caps are metal, but the oil caps are plastic. So if someone has a metal cap froma dead engine that is just sitting and rusting, Ill take it off your hands

PM me to let me know how much you want for it.
Thanks

JMH

The metal fuel cap and the metal/plastic oil cap are interchangable. (one of the many thoughtful gestures from Mercedes engineers)

The fuel and oil caps are NOT interchangable, at least not if you want it to look right. The oil cap has an oil can embossed in it. Just imagine some moron at a fast lube pouring oil in the gas tank or fuel in the engine! You can have this correct one all cleaned up and ready to go:

$8 including postage. PayPal OK.
