3.0 L W124 engine
Hi ,
I recently purchased my first Mercedes (1988 300 E). I don't know the actual millage, the odometer is showing 120,000 and was slipping (thanks to shop forum its been repaired since). I would like to buy a used engine with approximately the same required repairs that I will have to tackle in the near future: head gasket, valve seals, timing chain.I will do these repair while the engine is off the car. How many miles does it take for these repairs to become necessary. ( That will be the millage of the engine that I am looking for) I would hope that the major parts of the engine would be ok(main bearings crankshaft, camshaft etc.... Please contact me : Anybody with an accidented 300 E who does not want to repair or If you know of a junk yard that can fill my need.

I'd seen a few on e-bay.
You can also try www.pgauto.com
The bottom end on this vehicles will outlast the rest of the vehicle. The head is a different story. It all depends how it was maintained but, most people would need a head job around 150k miles maybe less. Good luck!

I can get a 260e ( 2.4vs3.0) the motor sound great before the body was cut up... the pistons as I understand it are the only differences..... make me an offer..
